About Raúl Benitéz
Cuban artist, Raúl Benitéz began his studies with the National School of of Arts at the Provincial School of Plastic Arts, Havana, Cuba. He worked and exhibited at the Eduardo Abela Arts Hall and Salon during the years 2012 and 2013. Benítez continued the development of his art studies from 2013 through 2016 at the San Allejandro Academy of Fine Arts, the oldest and most prestigious fine arts school in Cuba. He graduated with the title of Technical Media in Plastic Arts.
The plastic arts in Cuba are the expression of man-made imagery, painting, sculpture, ceramics, engraving, photography, architecture and graphic design. Raúl Benítez’ manifests this through his grand scale figurative and portrait paintings. He works with a monochromatic palette and often autobiographical focus. There is an occasional nod to Cuban culture in his subject matter and a dark mystic in the characters depicted.
