Evoke Contemporary is proud to announce the BP Portrait Award's selection of David Kassan's "Portrait of Sam Goldofsky, Survivor of Auschwitz" for its annual exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
The BP Portrait Award is considered by many to be the most prestigious art competition in the world for contemporary portraiture. This year's exhibition features fifty-five portraits, which were selected from a record-breaking 2,748 entries by artists from 92 countries.
The portrait of Sam Goldofsky is the first in Kassan's ongoing project, 'Living Witnesses, Survivors of the Holocaust'. Kassan invited volunteers to sit for portraits and filmed testimonies of their experiences. A video documenting the making of Portrait of Sam Goldofsky, Survivor of Auschwitz is available on vimeo.
